Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery Maintains Progress

According to recent remarks made by a Dangote spokesman, the 650,000 barrel per day Dangote refinery currently under construction could see commissioning by the end of 2021.

Mr. Edwin Devakumar, Dangote’s Group Executive Director, stated recently that he expects mechanical completion would indeed be done by the fourth quarter and that “project construction has progressed to 79 per cent and an overall project completion of 89.50 per cent, considering engineering, procurement and construction.”  The commissioning of the massive project would begin immediately with an official startup possible in early 2022.

The Dangote refinery has seen multiple delays in recent years, partially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is apparently back on track to finally commence its much-heralded startup for a country reliant upon its success.
