ENEOS Corporation (ENEOS) and Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) have signed a joint agreement to explore CO2-free hydrogen production and usage at Woven City, the prototype city of the future that Toyota has started to develop in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Together with Toyota’s subsidiary Woven Planet Holdings, Inc. (Woven Planet), they will accelerate efforts by managing technical logistics.

Infinite Blue energy to develop green hydrogen plant in Northam, Western Australia

The Western Australian town of Northam could soon be home to Australia’s first large-scale green hydrogen plant under plans developed by Infinite Blue Energy. The company has acquired the existing 11 megawatt Northam Solar Farm from current owners Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) and Bookitja Pty Ltd as trustee of the Ngangk Trust, and plans to use it to power a 10MW hydrogen electrolyzer and battery storage to produce up to 4 tonnes per day of green hydrogen.

Korean companies plan to develop green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Indonesia

Korean companies Samsung and Hyundai are planning to develop a $1.2 billion project to produce green hydrogen in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The Korean companies in collaboration with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) will develop the large-scale green hydrogen/ ammonia production project utilizing green geothermal power from the Sarulla geothermal power plant in the Sarulla Block in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

ConocoPhillips Completes Purchase of Additional 10% Shareholding Interest in APLNG

ConocoPhillips today announced through its Australian subsidiary that it has completed the purchase of an additional 10% shareholding interest in Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) from Origin Energy for $1.645 billion. After customary closing adjustments, cash paid for the additional interest is approximately $1.4 billion (AU$2.0 billion). The transaction resulted from the exercise of ConocoPhillips’ preemption right and is funded from cash on the company’s balance sheet.

Lummus Technology to Add CDAlky Technology to Large Complex in China

Lummus Technology of Texas recently announced that it has been contracted by the Shandong Yulong Petrochemical Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China’s Nanshan Group, for the provision of their proprietary CDAlky technology in an upcoming alkylation unit. This 400 KTA alkylation unit will be part of the significant Shandong Yulong Refining and Petrochemical integrated Complex under development in the Shandong Province of China.

Partners shortlisted for world’s largest green hydrogen project in Southland

Four potential development partners have been shortlisted for the Southern Green Hydrogen project, a joint venture between Meridian Energy and Contact Energy to develop the first large-scale green hydrogen plant in Southland. The shortlist comprises: a Japanese consortium of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s largest trading and investment companies, and ENEOS, one of Japan’s leading integrated energy companies; leading gases and engineering company BOC, a Linde company. Linde is a global leader in the production, processing, storage and distribution of hydrogen; Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), a subsidiary of Australian Fortescue Metals Group, a global green energy company committed to producing zero-carbon green hydrogen from 100 per cent renewable sources; and Woodside Energy Limited, Australia’s leading natural gas producer, committed to providing sustainable energy solutions.

Technip Energies Wins EPCC Contract with Petronas

Technip Energies has recently been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract by PETRONAS Chemicals Fertilizer Kedah (PC FK), a subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad for the company’s upcoming melamine plant to be integrated into their existing complex in Gurun, Kedah, Malaysia. Dialog E&C of Malaysia is also part of this contract with Technip Energies.

Air Liquide, Airbus, Korean Air and Incheon International Airport Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the use of hydrogen at Incheon International Airport. More globally, the collaboration will also study the development of a Korean airport infrastructure to support the deployment of hydrogen-powered commercial aircrafts. BPCL Cancels Polyols Project in Kochi

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation of India (BPCL) recently decided to cease the development of its polyols petrochemical project in Kochi, India and instead focus on a new development of polypropylene production at the site. Cost overruns for the polyols project were cited as reasons for the change in direction.

Shell starts up hydrogen electrolyser in China with 20 MW production capacity

One of the world’s largest hydrogen electrolysers¹ has today started production of green hydrogen in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, China. The electrolyser will provide about half of the total green hydrogen supply for fuel cell vehicles at the Zhangjiakou competition zone during the Winter Olympic Games, set to begin on February 4, 2022.
